German DonutsOne pint of milk, four eggs, one small tablespoonful of melted butter, flavoring, salt to taste; first boil the milk and pour it, while hot, over a pint of flour; beat it very smooth and when it is cool have ready the yolks of the eggs well beaten; add them to the milk and flour, beaten well into it, then add the well-beaten whites; then, lastly, add the salt and as much more flour as will make the whole into a soft dough; flour your board, turn your dough upon it, roll it in pieces as thick as your finger and turn them in the form of a ring; cook in plenty of boiling lard. A nice breakfast cake with coffee.

Simple Coconut Buns RecipeIngredients * 1/4 c sugar . * 3 tsps fresh yeast . * 4 c plain flour . * 2 oz melted butter . * 1 1/2 c milk, warmed to tepid (105F) . * 1 beaten egg . * 2 c quality coconut milk, at about room temp Directions * Step #1 Heat oven to 350°F. * Step #2 Dissolve 1 tsp of the sugar & the yeast in the warmed milk. * Step #3 Sieve the flour into a large bowl or Kitchen Aid bowl & stir in the the sugar. * Step #4 Make a well in the centre & add the beaten egg, melted butter & the milk/yeast mixture. * Step #5 Mix the ingredients to form a dough that no longer sticks to the bowl. * Step #6 Knead by hand on a lightly floured board, or using the dough attachment on the Kitchen Aid, until the dough is smooth & shiny. * Step #7 Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl & cover with plastic film. * Step #8 Leave in a warm place for an hr until the dough has doubled in size. * Step #9 Return the dough to the floured board & punch down using your fists. * Step #10 Divide the dough into 32 equal pieces & roll each into a ball shape. * Step #11 Oil a 10" round cake tin with sides at least 2" high. * Step #12 Pack the dough balls into the tin & leave in a warm place for a second rising. * Step #13 Again, the dough should double in size. * Step #14 Pour the coconut milk over the buns until it reaches the top of the buns. * Step #15 Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 mins until golden brown & cooked through. * Step #16 Best served warm. * Enjoy the Simple Coconut Buns recipe

Well, folks. I just happened on this forum by chance but the subject caught my attention. Cook island donuts? I know donuts, but "Cook island donuts" I know nothing about. Would someone please clue me in... What´s so special about them?Maybe the ingredients, or texture, or method of cooking. I would really like to taste one, but where can I get one? Regards to all.

I love donuts so much, but I would never try to bake them on my own. I cannot afford to be wasting that kind of time not that kind of effort, totally.

I would rather make something that is more healthy, and less costly. Something like what is known as a 'johnny cake' over in the USVI, or what is know as a 'fried bake' in Trinidad and Tobago is more of what I would consider for new and diversified recipes.

Sometimes we need to try stuffs for us to learn. It is not actually a waste of time. We need to discover things and we do those discoveries by experimenting on stuffs, just like in cooking and in baking. If by chance we fail, I think there is no harm in doing it again, and again and again, until we perfect everything. Good luck on our baking. God bless us all.

Cook island donuts are just ordinary donuts from cook island. Maybe it is indeed delicious that is why people are getting more and more curious on how this donuts really tastes like but as far as I know I think it is just an ordinary donut. But anyway, maybe there is a certain recipe about this donut on the net. I think I can check that out and come back here later. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
