Mubashir Hasan (212.116.219.81) -

Hi, Dear All

I want to introduce myself so you feel relax I am Mubashir Hasan from Le-Meridian Hotel Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, I am passionate about cooking and trained European style chef, driven by exposure to fine dine cuisine and raising the challenges of reproducing that’s food. Cooking is often a creative expression for me and always interested to experience other culture for develop my cooking as on their tradition / culture (most of the cuisine based on culture / tradition that’s why it called traditional cuisine its my thoughts I don’t you would agree or not you see east Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan), these people use lot of spices in their food that’s why they are very hot blooded and very short temper people. If you see Europeans and American these people use less spices even they don’t have much spices in their cuisine except Black and white peppers that’s why they are very cool and soft hearted people). I approach my task as thoughts it were the first and last time (God never gives many chance), I like to design my own menus so I can prepare meal before time a head and that’s not allow me to spend much time in kitchen and I am inventory person / control so I don’t allow me to produce wastage even I always tried to create a new dish with leftover raw or cooked food if its possible. I have been creating / cooking food since my childhood and that’s interest takes me into culinary college it was great pleasure to having a degree in food and beverage industry even my education has not focused only learning fundamental theories but it was based on practical applications that’s practice made me more strong to choose chef” profession even it’s a commitment of long hours involvement, high level of stress, constant deadline but I am loving my job yep sometime I get stress when I didn’t meet my deadline but never get upset or hopeless coz my mom said just do your best. Well I am not trained in Europeans culinary college but my vast international experience and my learning ability given me opportunities to works under well known chef and manager if I went back in my previous life believe me I can’t imagine to work in world best hotels but I did it with Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan New York. Le-Meridian New Delhi India, P&O Cruises London.I am experienced guy so never let you down anywhere coz I understand your recommendations means. I would be more interested to work in Middle East, UAE, Kuwait, Maldives, CGS Countries or A place where I like my work, people can contribute don’t wait to get to work done.

Thanks you for your time and consideration

You’re sincerely

Syed Mubashir Hasan Shaikeb

Maybe you should join the Iron Chef. It will give you more exposure and opportunities if you will win the game. If your as good as you say then it won't be a problem for you beating the Iron Chef and pleasing the judges pallets

trying to join the iron chef is not a bad idea... Just make sure that you are really competent in terms of cooking.

Iron chef is televised. if you want to join make sure that you make your face all ready for the fight. hehe. I mean the whole world is gonna see you on T.V. cooking with high fire and time pressured, would you expect your appearance to be pleasing in the eye? i know that it is a cooking competition, but please before joining with a reality show or competition, make sure that you are physically prepared. (try going to a spa)

Have to agree with both tom and neri. You need to be extremely confident with your culinary skills and you need to look your best if you ever wish to go on to the show. But maybe that's not really what you want.

To be the best chef, I bet you have to have what it takes to cruise through the stormy waters of the food industry. I liked you saying that you wanted to introduce yourself so we could relax: was there a chance you were going to scare us?

Have you tried looking for online sites and/or the best hotels around you? You will need not only enough skills but convincing ones too. Good luck

Try looking for the best jobs in the target destination and if chefs are really in demand. Since you prefer your own menus it would be easier starting your own business where you call all shots.

Depending on how long you have been in the industry, I hope things lok up your way.

Jobs to do with the food industry are in high demand and call for a high level of competency. If you are true by your word, you should be landing your big break soon.

All the best.

Neri have a very good point there, I also think that when you are to go and join a competition that is televised then you should try to consider what you're going to look like on the TV.

But ofcourse it is still the talent of cooking that counts. Be sure that you are well equipped and ready. Best of luck to your career. Hope you'll do great bro, enjoy...

Well there are lots of not so good looking guys who are on television nowadays. I think the looks is just secondary if the goal is to showcase your skills and in this case your cooking skills.

If you are not that good looking, that is the problem of the hired make up artist of the show. They are there to make you look good, isn't it?

Best of luck to your cooking career..

Why are we bugging our selves with the looks of those who will be joining a televised cooking show?

Reply #11 Eve (63.176.159.170) - 12/20/09 13:37

For real Lindsay, I see no need in such activity.

In a cooking show, someone may not need to be the prettiest of people, but they would indeed have to show cleanliness. NO one wants to learn how to cook from someone that treats it like a child craft project.

Reply #13 Joy (63.176.159.137) - 01/28/10 20:04

Well that is right Brent. Come to think of it, I really got bored to watch all those cooking shoes that seemed to be very elementary when instructing. It sucks. What I want is something alive and fun to watch cooking shows where I know I can learn and have fun at the same time.

And regrading those "looks" issues, I think that would be the last thing to consider because it is a cooking show and not a fashion show.

Reply #14 Macey (77.42.0.68) - 02/21/10 22:37

I have to agree on that, and besides why watch those tv programs when you can have lots of cook instructional materials free for download on the net to teach you the basics of professional cooking. You just have to search on some good recipes and viola, you are on your way to cooking some gourmet foods fresh from your own kitchen. Have a great day everyone and keep those posts coming.
