We would like to draw your kind attention that Government of Haryana has first time included Microbrewery segment in India. The microbrewery License would be just Rs 2.5 lacs per year and would draw an excise duty of Rs 12 per liter. We being the leading the major technology supplier for Microbrewery have already have got serious enquiry from Galaxy (3 star Hotel cum Mall) in Gurgaon behind 32 Mile Stone.Govt of Delhi is also in the process to recognise Microbrewery segment in near future.

Is a microbrewery something like a regular brewery just independently owned?

Again, if you really want to start the Craft Beer phenomenon on the right path it needs to make sense to the entrepreneur and to the customer.Recent trips to Galaxy Mall have resulted in disgusting tasting beer! yuck! Poor production proceedures, poor recipes, poor combination of ingredients, questionable equipment (from China!), no quality control checks, no tasting panels! Here it doesn't make sense to the consumer! There is a period of time where customers will come for curiosity and may even tolerate the taste because they don't know better...but customers aren't stupid afterall. Ambience Mall project has proved that it doesn't make sense to the entrepreneur. Equipment cost alone must be more than 2 crores, all German made and imported from the 'Rolls Royce' of brewing equipment companies. All imported raw materials. Huge property at Ambience mall, probably at least 12 lacs per month in rent overhead...how does it make business sense? What kind of price point /volume needs to be achieved? by my estimates at least Rs.300 per mug and 750 mugs per day...at a minimum. Just not feasilbe! Then we have Martin Judds 'Knights' Beer which again was taking the Microbrewery concept and totally mis-interpreting it! Again imported shoddy equipment from China, which is now probably worth scrap value and a product which is disgusting, has no innovation in the taste and yet is calling itself "craft beer" india's first microbrewery. Good luck to you pal but after 2 years and no collections from your distributors, the future doesn't look bright. still up for sale? I have utmost hope and faith that the boys in Pune will get it right. I think they will! The only negative there is that its a bit removed from the city and it won't get high volume footfalls to match its installed capacity. Are Indians so insecure? why can't you do something small, local, classy, sustainable, realistic...? why does everything have to be big, flashy, expensive, loud, bold...look around, has it created a nice society? • Page 1 (Original Post) •
